Perinatal & Infant Support
We are ever grateful to Louise who developed and grew the role of PODS Perinatal & Infant Disability Support Worker. She has now handed this role over to Jeannie who continues the service with the same passion and empathy displayed by Louise.
Jeannie’s role is ensuring families have the support they require when they need it the most. She is hoping to create a difference in this role at PODS, ensuring no one goes through the journey alone like Louise did and so many other families have done so.
Her desire is that no one feels alone when receiving a perinatal or infant disability diagnosis, she hope’s to provide support and guidance for the journey ahead. Whatever families may face, every step of the way she will be there, ensuring families are supported.
She want’s to ensure no parent has to complete that journey alone, she understands that having a child with additional needs can be quite a lonely and scary experience and strives to provide support for families.
The type of support she can provide can range from family to family, it is all based on what they need. She can offer a listening ear, she can attend appointments if they want someone impartial to take notes, she can visit the family at home, offer advice and guide parents to appropriate and relevant services, the possibilities are endless.
Currently she supports families in sensory sessions at our hub, it gives their child a place to enjoy and access and parents can address their worries and concerns in a safe space.
Please feel free to contact Jeannie if you have any questions about the role, or if you are expecting a baby with disabilities or have a child under 2 diagnosed with disability.
