Together We Can Make a Difference

PODS Charity (Parents Opening Doors)

For young people aged 11 to 18, the PODS Youth Club provides a vibrant Hub for SEN teens and young adults, offering a space for fun, friendship, and skill development through diverse activities and a supportive environment.

The environment has been created to offer free-flow play to foster social interaction and allow the building of friendships. With a range of activities including computer gaming, drawing, board games, and access to our fantastic sensory room, there’s something for everyone. You can even bring your own games/activities if you wish.

We also include seasonal activities such as gardening and outings in the warmer months, and contributing to the PODS Hub Christmas decorations. Suggestions for activities are always welcome.

Young people can also avail themselves of goodies from our tuck shop, formed specifically to encourage transactional interaction and basic money management skills. We have very much taken the ‘learning by stealth’ approach!

Our amazing young people have made some fantastic progress this year and a few have even volunteered to assist at the club and other roles within PODS.

We also advocate for inclusive services on behalf of families and, whilst we do not necessarily host these sessions, we are heavily involved in the planning of said sessions. For example, relaxed cinema viewings, and SEN specific ice-skating sessions.

Our hope is to expose young people to social activities in a calmer and more controlled environment they will be less anxious when attending similar activities independently, and with family and friends.
