Together We Can Make a Difference

PODS Charity (Parents Opening Doors)

As the recognised Parent Carer Forum for Telford and Wrekin, we whole heartedly believe in practicing what we preach. Below are some examples where our community have provided feedback on our services and how we have responded.

You raised the issue of parking difficulties at our annual Picnic in the Park, held at Admaston House. We resolved this by researching and locating a more suitable venue with greater parking facilities.

Feedback through our steering group stated that there was a gap in our Christmas events provision, for those that found the main party to overwhelming but would like some form of event. This lead to the introduction of our Christmas Tea Party which is a calmer event and has areas where families can retreat to in the event of becoming overwhelmed.

Following the very successful delivery of our High Ropes sessions at Telford Town Park, families requested that these were run again. We looked for suitable funding and following its success worked with the High Ropes venue to bring you further subsidised sessions.

Parent carers raised the issue of not being able to book on to our ever-popular events and trips during school holiday. We responded by introducing an application system, whereas families applied for a space on their preferred activity, the applications were then allocated to those who have not previously been successful first. A record is kept of successful applicants to ensure that throughout the year the spaces are evenly distributed.

Families feedback that as tickets for general events and activities went live at midday at the same time as the ebulletin came out, those that were at work were unable to book as they were sold out before they were in a position to even log on. We have reviewed our procedures and decided for the ebulletin to now be released at 5pm on a Monday and for appropriate new events to not go live until 7pm on Tuesdays. Certain activities like our holiday scheme will continue to be released on a Saturday.
