Together We Can Make a Difference

PODS Charity (Parents Opening Doors)

Message from Jayne Stevens (Strategic Co-ordinator). Representing PODS Parents Opening Doors Charity, who work with families who have a child or young person with a disability or additional need (age 0-25 years).

It’s important that as many families are represented at this time, and we would urge other groups either in the community or online, to engage with us to share experiences, thoughts and suggestions, for the benefit of Telford & Wrekin families with children and young people with disabilities and additional needs.

We have met today with commissioners, young people services (inc My Options/Ican2) and service providers to discuss how best we can support families in these very challenging times and exploring the best ways that support can be available around respite, activities and PA’s.

Another meeting will take place at the end of this week, to discuss further, share thoughts and experiences of families and to decide on next steps.

At PODS we are able to offer contact via telephone, social media and email, virtual family groups will be set up and we are exploring opportunities for ‘outdoor based activities’ such as walks and forest school type opportunities for small groups (subject to their health).
