This month two of our PODS members, Emma and Rachel, trekked up Snowdon and raised an incredible £400 for PODS! Thank you on behalf of us at PODS and our families, you’re truly an inspiration and the amount will make a difference.
Emma’s experience…
“We decided to raise money for PODS as they have been a lifeline for us offering advice and guidance throughout our journey, pre-diagnosis is a tricky road to navigate and PODS have been a constant source of comfort. They also offer lots of family activities and groups that both myself and young person feel confident in attending as they make you feel at ease and everyone is always so friendly, welcoming and approachable. It’s a safe space with no judgement for our children and family to have fun.
We decided to do something that would really push us, physically and mentally. We struggle with climbing the Wrekin so knew that Snowdon would be a big task. We started training by going for walks on an evening around Telford and as the weeks went by upped the distance and started carrying our equipment. Then before we knew it Snowdon climb was here, it took just over 3hrs to get to the summit and was a tough climb. The views made it worthwhile though. We got back down to the car and couldn’t believe we had done it, total of 5hrs 20mins, 9miles and a whopping 1,085m high! We just really wanted to give something back as a thank you for all the hard work and commitment to the people behind PODS and promote PODS spread their message and goals, and hopefully encourage others to get involved and spread the word.”
