Together We Can Make a Difference

PODS Charity (Parents Opening Doors)

Here at PODS we are only to aware of the far reaching impact of COVID, be it emotional, social or financial. We have strived to support our members every step of the way, through the delivery of sensory bags/resilience packs, well being phone calls, meet ups (where allowed) and many online Zoom sessions.

Many other organisations have done their bit to support, some of this has been through the use of food parcels and breakfast packs to those on low incomes. Unfortunately, there are many families out there they that fail to meet the criteria, however it does not mean they are not in need. We hear of so many families who are just about scraping by (working poor), this is sometimes caused by redundancy, furlough or other losses in income.

This got us thinking, maybe we could step in and assist in someway to help these families that fall through the cracks. We spoke with June the community champion from Asda, who suggested we apply for a grant enabling us to provide some ‘food cupboard’ parcels.

We are delighted to say our grant was approved and we have a small amount of food parcels for distribution to our members. We are committed to helping those families that are unable to access support elsewhere, so with this in mind the following criteria has been drawn up.

  • Must be a current member of PODS living in Telford.
  • Not in receipt of breakfast packs/food parcels.
  • Not receiving school meal vouchers.
  • Do not have to be on a low income but must have reduced income due to Covid.

If you meet the criteria and would like to receive a parcel please contact elaine@podstelford.org please include your phone number in your email so contact with you can be made. All emails will be treated in the strictest confidence and dealt with in a first come first served order.

Please note the imagine is just for illustration and does not represent the actual food parcel!
