Together We Can Make a Difference

PODS Charity (Parents Opening Doors)

This week is National Volunteers Week and we have an exciting announcement to make, that fits in perfectly with both Volunteers week and the Queens Jubilee celebrations over the weekend.

Many of you may not realise that PODS is supported by an army of volunteers who cover a wide aspect of roles, most of whom fit in their volunteering around caring for a disabled child. This makes what they do extra special and important, which is truly worthy of recognition and it’s vitally important to us that they are thanked and recognised for this. Our volunteers are an integral part of our charity and without them we would cease to exist. Their roles are entwined throughout our organisation, from Trustees who provide guidance and oversight, too those extra special volunteers helping with frontline services ensuring our community has the support it needs when they need it the most.

We are delighted to announce that our volunteers hard work and dedication has been recognised at the highest possible level and we have just been awarded ‘The Queens Award for Voluntary Service’ which is the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary organisations. We are overwhelmed and excited and cannot wait to celebrate and give that extra special thank you to our volunteer team. We will be hosting a formal presentation evening for our volunteers, as a way of a THANK YOU and to celebrate their success. Two lucky volunteers will be chosen to represent the charity in attending a Garden Party next year at Buckingham Palace. On top of this we have arranged with ‘Room 2 Reward’ for 3 volunteers and their families to have a free night or two away in hotel at a location of their choice. You are all welcome to put forward a volunteer for one of these very special Thank You’s, please email elaine@podstelford.org in the strictest of confidence.

Finally we wish to formally thank every single person that has given up their time, even if just an hour or two, for their help and support in making PODS the charity it is today, without you we would not be here.

We would also like to thank you on behalf of all the families you have helped and given hope to over the years, you truly have made a difference to countless lives, THANK YOU.

We have lots of lovely photos of our Afternoon Tea held on Thursday 2nd June for the Queens Platinum Jubilee, on our Facebook page: PODS Open Facebook Page. We were even honoured to welcome the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire and the the Mayor of Telford & Wrekin!
